Barossa

The Octavius Barossa Old Vine Shiraz

Shiraz 1993

Vintage quality:
The growing season was punctuated by a wet and cold spring, leading into mid-summer rains. Old vines have produced grapes of immense flavour and concentration.
Cellar guide:
15-20 Years
Last tasted:
August 1995, Simon Adams, Winemaker
Notes:
The cooler climate Eden Valley portion has given an amazing lift to the aroma and balances the very powerful chewy palate coming from the Barossa Valley component. Amazing intensity of fruit is apparent on the nose - plums, prune, spice and integrated mocha oak. The palate is nothing short of an "explosion" of flavour, with amazing balance and harmony of cool climate Eden Valley fruit and riper Barossa Valley. Firm fruit and oak tannins to finish.
