Yalumba The Virgilius Eden Valley Viognier

Viognier 2005

Vintage quality:
The long ripening season led to an opulent and aromatic nose and flavours, with many layers of complexity and lusciousness.
Cellar guide:
Good Cellaring for 3-4 Years
Last tasted:
April 2006, Louisa Rose, Winemaker
Notes:
The Virgilius 2005 is pale gold in colour with green highlights. The nose presents intense aromas of almonds, apricots and ginger. Lifted ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral texture and complex apricots and white oatmeal flavours. The trademark Viognier lusciousness is clearly evident, which is rich, lush-textured and complex while at the same time shows restraint which should ensure good cellaring. The Virgilius is at its best with food and complements a wide range of flavours. Awards and Accolades: 1 Commendation, 1 Gold award
