Yalumba The Virgilius Eden Valley Viognier

Viognier 2009

Vintage quality:
A dry winter and spring lead into a January heatwave, and was followed a February/March that featured cool nights and perfect conditions for slow ripening.
Cellar guide:
Showing signs of a great Viognier now but will reward medium term cellaring with even more layers of flavours and aroma.
Last tasted:
April 2010, Louisa Rose, Winemaker
Notes:
A pale gold with green highlights, The Virgilius 2009 exhibits intense aromas on the nose of white peaches, apricots and ginger. Lifted ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral texture and complex apricots and white stone fruit flavours. The trademark Viognier lusciousness is clearly evident in this wine, which is rich, lush-textured and complex while at the same time showing restraint. Awards and Accolades: 1 Trophy, 2 Gold
