Eden Valley

Yalumba The Virgilius Eden Valley Viognier

Viognier 2014

Vintage quality:
Good winter and early spring rains were followed by a windy spring. Unseasonal frost sadly lead to a reduction in crop size.
Cellar guide:
Showing signs of a great Viognier now but will reward short term cellaring with even more layers of flavours and aroma.
Last tasted:
September 2015, Louisa Rose, Winemaker
Notes:
Pale gold with green highlights, the nose has intense aromas of fresh picked apricots, cardamom and fresh ginger. Lifted ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral texture, apricots and white stone fruit flavours. The trademark Viognier lusciousness of the palate is clearly evident in this wine which is rich, lush-textured and complex while at the same time showing purity and restraint. At its best with food, The Virgilius complements a wide range of flavours, particularly dishes with spice and rich flavours.
