The Signature Museum Release 2010

2010

Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz

This has a very attractive, blackberry and red-plum nose with some leafy elements, as well as plenty of oak spice and hints of black tea. This has a fleshy, supple, bold and round palate. Very supple, sleek and long. Silky, yet sturdy. Very drinkable now and will last a good two decades. A vinous slam dunk! Drink or hold.

Tasting Note Very full in colour. Opens with bright currants, anise and pretty red fruits that are almost exotic in nature. A wine of generosity that is still so bright, youthful and sweet fruited, with fine tannins that complete the structure.
Terroir We sourced much of the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Schrapel vineyard in the Krondorf foothills and Reimers vineyard on the edge of Greenock. The Eden Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was mainly sourced from Yalumba Short’s vineyard, located on the north western edge of the winery. These components all provide the rich lifted Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics and structure that The Signature is famous for. Many small parcels of Shiraz all add different layers of richness and complexity. Blocks include Waechter’s two old shiraz blocks northeast of Lights Pass, the Schrapel vineyard old shiraz planted in 1974, Yalumba Short’s vineyard 1970 block and the 1925 Long rows plantings in the Schiller vineyard on Belvidere Road north of Nuriootpa.
Treatment Matured for 20 months in 35% new Yalumba-coopered French oak hogsheads and barriques with the balance in 2, 3 and 4 year old French, Hungarian and American hogsheads.

The Museum Collection

Twenty years ago our winemaking team began putting away our flagship wines with the intention for the bottles to be enjoyed at a later date. It was envisioned that beautifully aged wines, released every year, would promote the reputation of surviving heirloom vineyards and consistently show the skilled craftsmanship behind our Yalumba collection.

Our 2025 release builds on that milestone with the second release of our back vintage programme. These wines are aged up to 20 years and capture the essence of our commitment to wines of pedigree and exceptional quality. We have addressed the challenge associated with preserving wines under optimal storage conditions, thereby ensuring their maturity and quality.
